PMS

Point My Stories

Planning poker for people who would rather be doing literally anything else.

What is this, and why does it exist?

PMS is planning poker. You know the drill: everyone stares at a story, picks a number, and pretends the number means something.

We didn't invent the ritual. We just built a slightly less miserable place to sit through it. Votes stay hidden until someone reveals them, so nobody anchors on whatever the loudest person blurted out first.

How to use it, ugh

  1. Start a session. Name it, or don't - unnamed ones become 'Yet Another Pointing Session', which is at least honest.
  2. Fling the link at your team. They join by typing their name, like it's 2007.
  3. Everyone picks a card. Votes stay hidden, so no, you can't just copy whatever Dave voted.
  4. Reveal the votes. Gasp at the person who said 21. Argue about it for ten minutes.
  5. Clear the pile and do it all again. And again. Until the sprint mercifully ends.

Fine. Let's do this.
